ED Talks: Understanding the Power Dynamics of our Energy System
June 8, 2020, 7:00pm - 8:00pm
We all depend on electricity for powering our daily lives. But during this time of increasing economic hardship and climate change, we have very little control over our energy system. St. Paul 350 is hosting a series of Energy Democracy Talks — “ED Talks” — to help us understand how our current system works and what we can do to change it.
In this talk, Alice Madden from Community Power will lead us in a quick and dirty — pun intended — overview of where our energy comes from in Minnesota, how it gets to us, and some of the built-in economic and political incentives of the system that we all depend on. Who decides? Who benefits? Who bears the risk? And how might we re-imagine and take back control of our energy future?
This event will be streamed live on Facebook, starting at 7:00 pm on Monday, June 1. If you want to join by video-conference, phone, or on Facebook, fill out the form below, and we will send you a confirmation email with the information to join remotely.
