MMIWR Mondays: Historical and Generational Trauma – Systemic Barriers To Healing

April 3, 2023, 2:00pm - 3:00pm

MN350’s Missing and Murdered Indigenous Relatives Organizer Jessica Gidagaakoons Smith will discuss the historical and generational trauma that is at the root of the MMIWR crisis. This livestream will focus on current systemic barriers to healing, the retraumatizing nature of the system, and how corrupt practices affect mental health and healing. We will address boarding schools, the foster care system, and how the system continues to take our children instead of working with families. Children in the foster care system are at extremely higher rates to human trafficking and MMIWR.
