Policy Action Team

Our Policy Action Team works with leaders at every level to make preventing damage to our climate a priority

In order to win on climate and clean energy at the state level, Minnesota legislators need to feel the heat.  CMP members are sending a strong message to their legislators: It’s time to get serious about clean energy.

How it works: In each legislative district Climate Majority Project Team Members generate a steady drumbeat of calls, emails, editorials, and in person meetings with your legislators.

Together, we’ll create a groundswell of influence, strong enough to make climate change a top priority for state lawmakers and the Governor.

What we do

MN350’s Policy Action Team (PAT) mobilizes supporters across Minnesota to communicate with their state legislators about climate change, clean energy and climate justice. We work to make the legislative process more transparent by keeping Minnesotans informed and engaged so we can hold decision-makers accountable. We stand for increasing our use of renewables and decreasing our dependence on fossil fuels, especially oil pipelines.

We host in-person meetings with legislators to help build rapport and regularly remind them that climate and energy issues are important to our communities.

Our staff and volunteers activate rapid response teams to show up at the Capitol at key moments, attend hearings and meetings at the capitol, monitor bills that are introduced, create materials to educate legislators, and network with other environmental groups to build collective momentum.

During the election cycle, we support our companion organization, MN350 Action, in screening and endorsing Climate Champions.

Why it matters

The actions of Minnesota legislators have far-reaching consequences on the health of our communities and the planet. It is vital that Minnesotans speak out and work with lawmakers to protect our climate and support a just transition to a clean energy economy. We need our elected leaders to respond to our calls for a livable future. Getting them there starts with you.

Together, we can develop a critical mass of state representatives who will champion clean energy – or who know better than to stand in the way.
