MN350 is building a climate movement by inspiring Minnesotans to take collective action grounded in urgency, justice, and possibility. MN350 plays a role in the global movement for climate justice by engaging people in strategic campaigns to keep fossil fuels in the ground and move Minnesota to a just transition to renewable energy.
The Green New Deal team is currently planning to launch a Minneapolis Green New Deal campaign, together with a coalition of environmental justice, labor and energy democracy groups. The campaign will work through the 2021 Minneapolis city elections to elevate the issues of energy equity, and access to green jobs, in connection to current conversations about racial equity in public health and safety. In 2022 the campaign will move the newly elected city council use existing mechanisms to raise the funds necessary to address those needs. Interns in the program will have the opportunity to participate in organizing, outreach and communications, depending on experience.
We work with people from diverse backgrounds. Interns would benefit from having experience working in groups, and managing projects, strong interpersonal and writing and communication skills. Bi-lingual in Spanish and/or Somali is a plus but not required.
This internship is unpaid. Students can frequently arrange to receive academic credit for our internships if allowed by their institution. To apply, please send your resume and cover letter to Ulla at firstname.lastname@example.org. Responses will be sent in early September, and interviews will be conducted the week of Sept 6, 2021.
For more information or to speak with someone on our team before Sept 6, fill out the form on our Green New Deal team page.
