Sam Benson

Volunteer Spotlight

Sam Benson joined MN350’s Policy Action Team in January 2018. A 2017 graduate of Gustavus Adolphus College, with a degree in elementary education, Sam’s day job is teaching sixth grade at Eisenhower Elementary in Hopkins.

“Volunteering with the Policy Action Team has allowed me to become a more engaged citizen,” Sam says. “I have come to see how I can make my voice heard by decision-makers on the most important climate-related issues.”

Sam facilitates team meetings, helps to recruit new members, and shows up to support policies and legislators committed to addressing climate change.

“My time on PAT has given me the chance to advocate for policies that address climate change and campaign for and endorse the candidates who support these policies”, Sam says. “I feel like I am having an impact on how Minnesota views and addresses climate change.”
